3-Day ItineraryFrom Marrakech to the wild Chegaga dunes and back.
This itinerary balances scenic driving, cultural stops, desert adventure, and enough time to enjoy the remote atmosphere of Erg Chigaga.
Day 1Day 1 - Marrakech to Draa Valley
We leave Marrakech in the morning and cross the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n'Tichka pass. Along the way, we stop for viewpoints, local villages, and mountain scenery. We continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a famous UNESCO-listed kasbah, before driving toward Ouarzazate and the Draa Valley.
The road follows palm groves, old kasbahs, and southern Moroccan landscapes. You spend the night in a guesthouse or hotel near the Draa Valley area, depending on your chosen accommodation level.
Day 2Day 2 - Draa Valley to Chegaga Desert
After breakfast, we continue through the Draa Valley toward Zagora and M'Hamid, the last village before the open Sahara. From M'Hamid, the real desert adventure begins. We switch to a 4x4 route and cross desert tracks toward Erg Chigaga.
When we reach the Chegaga dunes, you enjoy a camel ride during sunset and arrive at the desert camp. Dinner is served at camp, followed by Berber music, campfire atmosphere, and a peaceful night under the stars.
Day 3Day 3 - Chegaga to Marrakech
Wake early to watch sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, we leave the camp by 4x4 and cross the wild desert route toward Lake Iriki and Foum Zguid. This part of the trip gives you open landscapes, dry lake beds, and a strong sense of Sahara wilderness.
We continue through Taznakht and the High Atlas Mountains before returning to Marrakech in the evening. Drop-off is at your hotel or riad.
