Overview

Embark on a 4-day adventure from Marrakech to the remote Chegaga Desert, one of Morocco’s most authentic and less crowded desert destinations. Along the way, you’ll travel through the High Atlas Mountains, visit UNESCO heritage sites, experience Berber culture, and spend two magical nights under the stars in the desert.

Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Agdz
Depart from Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains and cross the scenic Tizi n’Tichka pass. Visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Continue to Ouarzazate, then drive through the lush Draa Valley, ending the day in Agdz. Overnight in a charming riad/hotel.

Day 2: Agdz – Zagora – M’hamid – Chegaga Desert
Travel deeper into the valley, passing kasbahs and palm groves until reaching Zagora. Continue to M’hamid, the gateway to the Sahara. From here, drive off-road through desert landscapes to the Chegaga Dunes, where you’ll enjoy a camel trek and an unforgettable night under the stars at a desert camp.

Day 3: Chegaga Desert (Full Day in the Sahara)
Spend a full day in the desert. Enjoy camel rides, sandboarding, and exploring the vast dunes of Chegaga. Experience traditional Berber meals and spend a second magical night in the desert in a nomadic-style tent, with local music and stargazing.

Day 4: Chegaga – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Marrakech
After breakfast, drive off-road through the desert to Foum Zguid, then cross beautiful landscapes with dry lakes and Berber villages. Visit Taznakht, known for its handmade carpets, before heading back to Marrakech, arriving in the evening.
